HAGHIGHI LEAVES PARISA

Published:  23 July, 2008

The Parisa Group has announced that Nader Haghighi has decided to step aside as chief executive, to "pursue his interests in raising funds to acquire on-trade opportunities, including the possibility of buying the Parisa Caf Bar business". He remains a significant shareholder in the Parisa Group and has agreed to be available to the board for any advice. David Simons, former chief executive of Somerfield Plc, has joined the company and full executive responsibility for the business has been delegated to him. He will shortly be appointed executive chairman of the Parisa Group. Simons himself left Somerfield suddenly, after the company re-structured following a string of indifferent profit performances, related to the under-performance of the Kwiksave discount chain, which Simons bought.
