Tracking the trends

Published:  23 July, 2008

Mayfair Connection announced the results of an independent study of the London restaurant trade conducted from January to April 2006 at the LIWSF.

Twenty-three restaurateurs were interviewed and 125 wine lists - including a total of 18,276 wines - were scrutinised for trends.

Producers, appellations, varietals and blends from 30 different countries of origin were all recorded on a database to offer information on popular choices and current developments.

One case study revealed that the average wine list price for French restaurants is 86, whereas it is 62 for British outlets, and interviews with restaurateurs unveiled Harpers as the most popular business-to-business wine magazine.

Interested parties can subscribe to the full set of results through The Mayfair Connection in Surrey.
