New face at Wine Australia

Published:  23 July, 2008

Kirsten Moore has been appointed as Paul Henry's replacement as the regional manager for the UK and Ireland at generic body Wine Australia. Moore, born in Australia, has experience of both the UK off- and on-trade channels and, most recently, worked in a buying role at contract-catering giant Compass Group UK.

She commented: Australia has enjoyed such success over the past decade in the UK market that the challenge now is to maintain that position, perhaps by shifting the perception that Australian wines have in the minds of the consumer. Australia has such regional and stylistic diversity, producing wines

of quality and interest at all price points, and I would love to see that represented in the marketplace.'

Kirsten has gained the WSET qualifications, as well as graduating Bachelor of Economics from James Cook University, Queensland, and completing a postgraduate Bachelor of Wine Marketing degree at the University of Adelaide.

Newly appointed general manager for Wine Australia Paul Henry commented: Kirsten impressed the interview panel with her grasp of the challenges that Australia has to face in order to stay relevant and compelling to a maturing UK market. I have every confidence that she will make a significant and successful contribution to the next phase of Australia's development.'

Paul Henry will work with Moore in London until he moves to Adelaide in early April.
