Orr to head Quintessentially Wine

Published:  23 July, 2008

Wine writer and former Virgin Wine merchandising director Chris Orr, is to head up a new wine service for Quintessentially, the 24-hour virtual concierge service favoured by the Sloane set'.

Lining up alongside Orr at Quintessentially Wine are fellow scribe and buyer Matthew Jukes and Kirsty Bridge, who previously worked as brand manager for Champagne Veuve Clicquot.

The service will deliver cases of wine to the door of its members, who are generally young (30-50 years old) high-spenders.

Orr told Harpers: Matthew is one of the best buyers in the business, and we are putting together a really interesting, exciting list of about 150 wines, starting at 7.99. With special offers and parcels we will be offering about 250 to 300 wines a year. We want to offer a really tailored, personal service, then whether you want us to buy en primeur, put together a cellar or just send a case of wine, we can do it.'

Quintessentially Wine is launching in mid-November and joins other Quintessentially services, such as the Beyond Black credit card and the Ask Q information service.
