Think France unveils array of expert presenters for masterclasses

Published:  13 March, 2019

Think France has lined up a fantastic array of presenters, including Rebecca Gibb MW, Greg Sherwood MW, Chateaux Lestrille’s Estelle Roumage and Richard Hemming MW, who will be heading up a far-reaching range of masterclasses exploring aspects of this seminal wine producing country.

Harpers’ inaugural Think France event, taking place on Tuesday 26 March at Glaziers Hall in London, is designed to offer a fully interactive experience of tasting, masterclasses, networking and debates, looking at the modern and exciting face of France, allowing attendees to gain fresh insights into their French range.

First up will be Rebecca Gibb MW, hosting a masterclass titled ‘Perfectly Franc - how nature and nurture has changed the face of Loire Cabernet Franc’, exploring the qualities of the Loire’s signature red variety, and one that is fast growing in popularity with producers from around the world.

Staying with a Loire theme, Greg Sherwood MW will then look into ‘Exploring the bond between red wines and terroir in Centre-Loire’, considering Pinot Noir from Sancerre, Menetou-Salon and Reuilly, plus the way it is blended with Gamay to produce Châteaumeillant and Coteaux du Giennois wines.

A CIVB masterclass on ‘Sustainable Bordeaux’ follows, hosted by Chateaux Lestrille’s Estelle Roumage, with Richard Hemming MW then lined up to present ‘The Terroir Challenge’, where he will dive deep into how French terroir influences different grape varieties.

There will also be a special Brexit Q&A session with Julie Poirot, recently appointed deputy agricultural counsellor in the French embassy in London, who has had a wide-ranging career in the upper echelons of the French government and civil service.

Think France presents a somewhat different format to other French tastings, bringing together a host of regional generic bodies, which will be showing some of the best wines from each respective region.

Think France takes place at Glaziers Hall, 9 Montague Close, London Bridge, SE1 9DD on Tuesday 26 March, with doors open from 9.30am to 5pm.
