Matthew Clark strengthens wine buying team with new trio

Matthew Clark has expanded its wine buying team with a director and two new buyers.

Simon Jerrome has taken on the role of wine buying director, having previously led the buying teams for both Matthew Clark and Bibendum, and continues to be supported by Judith Nicholson in the role of buying & technical co-ordinator.

He is joined by previous Wine Rack buyer Holly Ninnes and Richard Masterson from Matther Clark's beer team. Both join the team as buyers.

The trio had been recruited to bring a “fresh look” to Matthew Clark’s wine selection as the wholesaler looked to “add even choice and more value” for on-trade customers, said Jerrome.

“We’re already improving our existing range, whilst discovering new wines and producers for our customers and look forward to presenting the wines in the Uncovered events taking place around the country early next year.”

In her new role, Ninnes will focus on growing the Matthew Clark wine portfolio with countries from South America and China, to Greece, Turkey and Italy.

Having previously worked as a sommelier at Glasgow’s Ubiquitous Chip, Masterson will be focusing on Champagne, England and Spain as well as Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
