WSET reveals Outstanding Alumni Award nominees

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) has revealed the nominees for its outstanding Alumni Award.

The nominees, who can be voted for now, are Pierpaolo Petrassi (UK), Nova Cadamatre (USA), Caro Maurer (Germany), Rhys Pender (Australia/Canada) and Fongyee Walker (China).

Introduced in 2016 to in partnership with JancisRobinson.com to celebrate a WSET Diploma graduate who was "notably contributing to the industry", previous winners include Sarah Jane Evans MW and Isabelle Legeron MW.

“We are thrilled to be associated with this award and could not be more supportive of continuing education - this year’s nominees are truly exceptional,” said Robinson.

The nominees have been chosen by the WSET International Alumni Advisory Board and Jancis Robinson MW, with Diploma graduates across WSET’s global network invited to vote for the winner.

The winner will be announced at the WSET Awards and Graduation ceremony in London on 21 January 2019, which will be hosted by WSET honorary president Steven Spurrier alongside chief executive Ian Harris.

Outstanding candidates for the 2017/18 academic year will also be presented with awards in recognition of their achievements at the ceremony.

Nominees for WSET Educator of the Year will be announced 19 November 2018.
