Bancroft turns to Delicato for latest Cali partnership

Published:  25 June, 2018

Bancroft Wines is ramping up its distribution of Californian wines via a new partnership with Delicato Family Vineyards' – the seventh largest exporter of wines from the Golden State.

Effective from August 1, the London-based wine distributor will represent key Delicato brands including Noble Vines, Gnarly Head, Brazin, Stone Barn, and Black Stallion Estate Winery farmed from over 1,700 hectares of family-owned vineyards.

Bancroft is positioning Delicato as one of the top ten wine companies in the US and one of the fastest growing.

The company’s roots lie not in California however but in Italy.

It was founded by Italian immigrants Gaspare Indelicato and his uncle Sebastiano Luppino, who started growing grapes in Lodi in 1924.

Today, the estate is run by Gaspare’s grandsons Chris Indelicato, president and CEO, and his brother Jay Indelicato, COO, with vineyards in Lodi, Monterey and Napa Valley.

A strong focus on innovation and environmental stewardship is also behind the deal, said Bancroft Wines’ CEO Jon Worsley.

“Over the years [Delicato] have championed the quality and diversity of premium Californian wines, and most importantly, we share our fundamental values of family, quality and sustainability. The Bancroft team looks forward to building on current sales, increasing distribution in the UK and forming a long-term partnership,” he said.

Chris Indelicato also drew attention to the importance of the UK as one of the world's leading wine markets.

“This market is important to our industry and our business, and we are confident that Bancroft Wines is the right fit to represent our portfolio,” he said.

Bancroft Wines operates out of London, supplying the on-trade, independent merchants, private clients and select national accounts.
