Merrill wins Watson

The 2005 Jimmy Watson Trophy, arguably Australia's most important show award, has been awarded to the 2004 Geoff Merrill Reserve McLaren Vale Shiraz at this year's Melbourne Wine Show.
The wine is produced from 100% McLaren Vale fruit and aged in French and American oak casks for 24 months prior to bottling.
Winemaker Scott Heidrich collected the award on behalf of Geoff Merrill, who is currently on a tour of the UK, supporting the faltering Australian cricket team.
