Buckingham Schenk to distribute te Pā Family Vineyards

Published:  10 April, 2018

Buckingham Schenk has been appointed exclusive UK agent for Maori wine business te Pā Family Vineyards.

As of May 1, the UK-wide importer will be representing te Pā’s portfolio in the UK, distributing the Marlborough winery’s te Pā and Pā Road ranges.

Founded by the MacDonald family, whose Maori lineage goes back to 1350, the te Pā estate spreads over 400ha in Marlborough’s Wairau and Awatere regions.

Key varietals Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have all helped to garner an international reputation for the wines under supervision of New Zealand-based chief winemaker Liam McElhinney.

McElhinney counts prominent wineries Trinity Hill, Saint Clair and Marisco Vineyards, where he developed ‘The Ned’, among his previous credits.

Haysley MacDonald, te Pā Family Vineyards owner and director said: “We see this new alliance as a major strategic move to facilitate and expand our presence in the flourishing UK market. With the support and considerable expertise of the Buckingham Schenk team, we are now in a strong position to place te Pā’s unique story, fascinating Maori heritage, and acclaimed family of wines, firmly on the map in the UK.”

Craig Durham, managing director of Buckingham Schenk, added: “We feel privileged to represent a producer which has such a long history and strong bonds with their local terroir and we can’t wait to start working with Haysley, Liam and their team.”

Buckingham Schenk is one of the UK’s leading wine importers, serving supermarkets and national chains to on-trade wholesalers and restaurant groups.
