Jenkyn Place adds new sparkling rosé

Published:  28 March, 2018

Hampshires Jenkyn Place vineyard has unveiled its latest addition a sparkling rosé.

Available now, Jenkyn Place Rosé 2014 is targeted at both the on and off-trade. It joins the producer’s recently launched Jenkyn Place Brut Classic Cuvée 2013 and Jenkyn Place Blanc de Noirs 2010 on shelf and is the third rosé release from the winery.

“We will only produce rosé when the Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes are of exceptional quality and 2014 was a fantastic year for winemaking in England, producing light bodied wines with great ageing potential,” said owner Simon Bladon.

A blend of 52% Pinot Noir, 32% Chardonnay and 16% Pinot Meunier, Jenkyn Place had “very high hopes” for this wine, he added.

Situated on the south facing slope of the North Downs in Hampshire, Jenkyn produces only sparkling wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes grown on soils of greensand over chalk and marlstone.

Since planting its first vines in 2004, the vineyard has grown to 12 acres.
