The Good Wine Shop launches third annual Grower Champagne Month

Published:  26 March, 2018

The Good Wine Shop has partnered with merchants and restaurants from across the industry to launch the third Grower Champagne Month campaign.

Partners for this year’s campaign, which will take place in June, include Champagne institution Bubbledogs, Champagne + Fromage, Fields Morris Verdin, Terroirs Wine Bar, Vine Trail, Les Caves de Pyrene, BYO Podcast, Indigo Wines, Wine Source, Raeburn Fine Wines and The Sampler, with more than 10 Champagne growers confirmed to attend.

The aim was to champion Grower Champagnes producers, who rarely had the marketing budget or time to promote their bubbles themselves, and provide a voice for them in the market place with a programme of events to help them gain recognition, said Derek Morrison, retail manager of The Good Wine Shop and co-founder of the campaign.

“There is no real united voice to champion them as a group in the UK, so we thought there was an opportunity to create a platform for all businesses to promote these deserving wines in a unified way,” he added.

In a bid to promote the industry-wide initiative, a central website has been established alongside an official #DrinkGrowerChampagne hashtag to link all social media activity.

In addition, and as per last year, there will also be prize giveaways for consumers who post content using the hashtag throughout the month of June.

“Any Instagram content using the hashtag will automatically feed into the main page of the website so we encourage our customers and other businesses to use it as much as they can. We want collaborations to be as easy as possible to encourage other businesses to get involved. This hashtag allows anyone to get their content and events integrated to our platforms immediately,” said Morrison.

There will be no e-commerce done through the website itself, but all participating businesses will have their own sites promoted so consumers can easily click through to buy champagne from any of the listed partners.

Domaines confirmed for this year includes; Champagne Eric Rodez, Vouette & Sorbee, Jacques Lassaigne, Ruppert-Leroy, Clandestin and Hubert Paulet.
