Published:  19 March, 2018

Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s has appointed Véronique Hombroekx as MD for its branded wine arm.

In her new role, Hombroekx will be working closely with the company’s shareholders to pursue the "value creation strategy" around Baron Philippe de Rothschild branded wines, with a key focus on Bordeaux brand Mouton Cadet and its Chilean Escudo Rojo wine.

Having worked with several multinational groups, Hombroekx has spent her career in food retailing, specialising in brand development for consumer products.

Hombroekx’s knowledge of the consumer market and her expertise in marketing and sales would help her bring an “innovative and purposeful” approach to her new position, said Baron Philippe de Rothschild, adding she would be particurlarly committed to driving the business together with the aim of offering consumers worldwide the best wines possible.

Succeeding Hughes Lechanoine, Hombroekx said: “I aim to bring the company all the know-how and experience I have gained in consumer goods while approaching the world of wine, which is new to me, with inspiration, wonderment and humility.”

Lechanoine left Baron Philippe de Rothschild in March 2017 after 16 years with the company, including seven years as MD for branded wines.

Baron Philippe de Rothschild has two distinct lines of business, Châteaux and branded wines, united under a single management and manages three classified growths in the Pauillac appellation.

It also produces and sells a range of high-quality branded wines made in close collaboration with 453 partner-winegrowers in Bordeaux.
