Berkmann signs distribution deal for Ferraton Père & Fils

Published:  07 March, 2018

Berkmann Wine Cellars has signed a deal as the exclusive UK distributor of Ferraton Père & Fils.

The deal, which marks the first time the historic house has appointed a sole distributor in the UK, takes effect from 1st April this year.

Since 1998, Ferraton has been a firm proponent of organic and biodynamic farming, with an increasing number of wines produced according to these principles.

With its “strong sustainable streak and consistently excellent value”, Ferraton was “a winning proposition” and an ideal fit with Berkmann Wine Cellars, said purchasing director, Alex Hunt MW.

“Across numerous appellations, Ferraton offers a stellar range of poised, delicious, evocative wines and we are thrilled at the opportunity to help these terrific wines become better known,” he said.

Ferraton said it was looking forward to working with Berkmann to develop its brand in the “important UK market”.

“We are delighted to consolidate our UK sales under one distributor, especially one with such a distinguished history and a portfolio of like-minded, top-quality wineries from around the globe,” said sales director, Patrick Rigoulet.

Maison Ferraton was founded in 1946 by Jean-Orëns Ferraton, the scion of family of vignerons with a small holding in Hermitage.

Expansion of the family business continued apace under his son Michel, who bought vineyards in St-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage which produce a number of critically acclaimed, site-specific wines.

In addition to this he established a negociant arm, producing superior wines from the length of the Rhône Valley.
