WSTA wins European award for annual conference

Published:  27 February, 2018

The Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WSTA) has been awarded the Best Conference gong at the European Association Awards (EAC) ceremony for its annual conference

The WSTA’s submission beat five other finalists in the Best Conference category to take home the award, which was announced last Friday at the ceremony in Brussels.

Judges said they had been particularly impressed by the “excellent initiatives”, like the Brexit workshop, on display at the conference, and the structure of the day as a whole, said the WSTA.

“Our annual conference was hugely successful last year – we received a lot of positive feedback both on the conference itself and on the Brexit workshop we held that morning,” said chief executive, Miles Beale.

Planning was already well under way for 2018, which Beales said promised to be “our biggest and best conference yet”.

The WSTA conference, held in September 2017, featured an impressive line-up of speakers including former trade minister, Lord Price, and Wetherspoon chairman, Tim Martin.

It set out how the government can deliver for the wine and spirit industry during Britain’s exit from the European Union, and also invited attendees to think creatively about the opportunities that Brexit may present.

Organised by Global Conference Network, the European Association Awards are a celebration of the work European associations do on behald of their members to ensure their voices are heard throughout Europe.
