The Midlands Wine & Spirit Association appoints new chairman

Published:  26 February, 2018

The Midlands Wine & Spirit Association (MWSA) has appointed Iain Phillips of Mentzendorff & Co as its new chairman.

Taking over from Alok Mathur of Sole Tree Wines, who held the position for the past three years, Phillips takes on his new role with immediate effect and will hold the position for the next two years.

It was a “great honour” to be taking over as chairman, said Phillips, adding Mathur had done an “excellent job”.

“I look forward to continuing the positive work of the association - bringing together like minded people and businesses is always going to be relevant and raising money for The Benevolent and educating the future of our industry will always be important,“ he said.

The appointment was announced at the MWSA’s AGM, at which it also announced it was donating £5,000 to The Benevolent following the lunch.

One of four regional associations affiliated to the Wine & Spirit Trade Association (WSTA), members of the MWSA include regional businesses in the wholesale and retail trade of wine and spirits; local branches of national companies; importers and producers.
