WineGB: Marketing/Administrative Assistant

Wines of Great Britain Limited (WineGB) is looking for a bright, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is seeking to develop a career in marketing and PR. WineGB is the national body for the vineyards and wine producers of the UK.

In this role, you will become a key part of the small but busy team in the WineGB head office, based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. To achieve this, you will be happy working alone or as part of the team to support the organisation with all aspects of the marketing operations and related administration. A confident and cheery communicator, you will be happy to liaise with wine producers, wine trade, media and consumers, and are often the first point of contact on the telephone. You will have great opportunities to use your creativity and organisational skills to help with marketing and PR communications and activities. You will be comfortable managing your own time and coping with multiple tasks and deadlines.

The role would be ideal for a marketing graduate and suit graduates of other disciplines, and those with some office-based or administrative experience who are keen to expand their marketing skills and knowledge of wine through the UK wine industry.


The Role

The Assistant will work with both the WineGB Marketing Director and Membership & Operations Manager in organising and implementing the full range of WineGB activities.

WineGB’s key responsibilities, activities and campaigns include

1. Digital Marketing: A major responsibility of the Assistant to include:

-          WineGB’s social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn)

-          The industry website, both outward-facing and for the benefit of WineGB’s members

-          Analysis of the performance of all digital marketing and insights

2. Generic Marketing Support and Collateral: These include:

-          Production and development of marketing materials for WineGB

-          Support for tourism and export initiatives (eg hard copy and interactive map development)

3. Industry Marketing Activities: Events and activities undertaken by WineGB both for the benefit of industry members and a more outward-facing focus (trade, media, government, consumer).  The Assistant will provide appropriate support in implementing them.  Current key activities include:

WineGB Annual Trade & Press Tasting: A key event that takes place annually in central London.  

English Wine Week: The industry’s annual national promotional campaign run by WineGB.  The Marketing /Admin Assistant will have a key role in organising this campaign, reporting to the Marketing Director.

Other Tastings, Events and Shows: WineGB will be developing opportunities to promote English and Welsh wines at other shows.

Targeted Campaigns and initiatives: Other individual campaigns and activities will be organised each year.


WineGB Members’ Events and Activities: Industry events such as an Annual Members Conference, technical conferences and training days. Administrative assistance will be required to support the organisation of the events.

External PR and Communications: Regular communications through press releases to provide support to individual initiatives as well as promoting WineGB’s core activities. Additionally, press visits and tasting events are also undertaken.

Internal marketing and communications: Keeping WineGB’s membership updated and informed is a key responsibility of the central team, which include regular bulletins and an industry magazine.  Handling all manner of enquiries is also an important part of the role. 

Person Specification:

  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Good administrative and IT skills (including Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel)
  • Knowledge of desk-top publishing (InDesign), as well as Mailchimp and Survey Monkey
  • Experienced in social media across multiple channels
  • Well organised and able to prioritise tasks
  • Ability to work on own initiative sometimes working alone in the office
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Creativity
  • Copywriting skills
  • Attention to detail

Hours of Work

37.5 hours per week
Monday to Friday. Normally 9am to 5.30pm to include 1 hour lunch break
Occasional overtime outside these hours may be required. This will be agreed in advance.


Remuneration

Starting salary will be £16,000 pa paid monthly on the last working day of each month, with a salary review after 3 months. Agreed overtime will be paid at the rate of £10 per hour.

There will be an initial trial period of 3 months followed by a fixed term contract of 12 months.  Renewal of the contract will be dependent on performance and continuation of funding.
