Berry Bros appoints Enotria & Coe’s Davies to lead role

Published:  13 December, 2017

Berry Bros & Rudd has appointed Enotria & Coe’s Matt Davies to the new role of MD for Field’s, Morris & Verdin and Berry Bros & Rudd Wholesale.

Bringing more than twenty years of experience in the wine industry, Davies leaves his role as commercial director for Enotria & Co to take up his new position, which will see him take on responsibility for the direction of Berry Bros’ on- and off-trade sales teams.

Prior to the merger of Enotria and Coe Vintners in 2015, Davies was MD at Coe Vintners.

Davies’ experience for “driving strong sales growth” for both wines and spirits would be invaluable to both the FMV and BB&R Wholesale channels, said chief executive, Dan Jago.

“We have incredibly strong teams within the FMV and Wholesale divisions of the business and this new structure will ensure our suppliers are provided with dedicated, specialist support while we develop distribution across our trade network,” he said.

Coinciding with the appointment of Davies, Damian Carrington takes on the role of agency director.

Working alongside Abi Hirshfeld and the buying team, Carrington will together with agency manager Lenka Sedlackova MW help manage key suppliers, both across the business and in the wider market.

At the beginning of this week, Berry Bros & revealed it had signed a global distribution agreement with Daftmill Distillery - one of only two Scottish spirit distilleries that can use the term ‘single estate’.

The London-based merchant, which is the oldest wine and spirits merchant in Britain, has the sole distribution rights to the distillery, which is named after the Daft stream in Fife, near Cupar.
