Vivino adds ‘Amazon Prime’ style free shipping service

Published:  12 December, 2017

Leading wine app Vivino has today launched a premium service offering customers free shipping.

Vivino Premium, described as the “Amazon Prime” of the wine industry, had been launched to enable customers to order unlimited wine across the entire 32,000 Vivino Market portfolio, with no extra shipping costs added if signed up to the new service.

In addition to free shipping, Vivino Premium subscribers, who will pay a one-off £32 annual fee, will receive special early access to hand-picked deals at up to 50% off.

Vivino had decided to “make those pesky shipping costs a thing of the past” as part of its strategy to “make buying great wine as easy as possible”, said founder and CEO, Heini Zachariassen.

“With Vivino Premium we are once again demonstrating that we understand the way in which modern wine drinkers want to select, purchase and consume their favourite wines,” he said, adding free shopping made the decision to purchase wine online or via a mobile device a “no-brainer”.

“We are proud to be able to support our merchant partners by driving increased customer numbers and sales to their stores,” he said.

Vivino, which introduced a recommendation engine aimed at helping wine retailers and merchants increase their digital customer reach and sell more wine in March this year, is offering interested parties a 30-day free trial of Vivino Premium.

Initially launched in the UK, the new service will also be made available in the US and some European countries including, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland and Denmark.

Founded by Heini Zachariassen and Theis Sondergaard in 2010, Vivino is powered by a community of 27 million wine drinkers who use the Vivino app to scan and rate more than 500,000 wines every day.
