Three Choirs launches ‘first release’ still white for the first time in six years

Published:  27 November, 2017

Three Choirs Vineyards has launched a ‘first release’ still white wine for the first time in six years.

The limited edition 2017 vintage still white wine, available from 1 December, had been born out of a “fantastic 2017 vintage”, said the Gloucestershire-based wine estate, with early indications of a “high quality harvest” from the UK, together with ongoing increase in plantings to grow long-term growth for the industry, having inspired  the release.

The last time the vineyard produced a new release was back in 2011 in the shape of a tongue in cheek link to Beaujolais Nouveau Day,” said Martin Fowke, winemaking director at Three Choirs.

Now, he said, seemed to be “entirely the right time” for Three Choirs to set its own date and show that it could stand on its own two feet.

“We could also argue that England could be the only success story in the world of wine in 2017 - it has been a very challenging year with difficult harvests for so many wine regions and I’m delighted to report that we have had one of our largest and highest quality vintages ever,” he added.

The vineyard is using the limited release wine (rrp: £10) to help raise money for local charities in addition to donating 25p from every bottle sold to the drinks industry’s own charity, The Benevolent.
