Bristol renaissance

Published:  18 January, 2007

Last week saw the re-birth of an organisation that last met more than 30 years ago - The Bristol Wine Trade Lunch Club.

Among those present were John Avery MW (in his last day in office as Master of the Worshipful Company of Vintners), Jim Hood (a past Master), John Smith (the president of the Benevolent) and Raj Soni (the Chairman of the West of England Wine & Spirit Association). The statistician in the group claimed that there was 401 years' experience in the wine trade among the ten people present.

It was from this organisation that the West of England Association sprang. The intention is to meet once or twice a year and to raise money for the Benevolent.
