Buckingham Schenk adds Viñalba Malbec blend to its menu

Published:  24 July, 2017

Buckingham Schenk has expanded its wine portfolio with a Malbec blend from Viñalba.

Viñalba Malbec Bonarda, available now from Majestic Wine (rsp: £9.99 or £7.99 if bought as part of the retailer’s ‘mix six’ mechanic), is a 90% Malbec and 10% Bonarda blend made with grapes from the winery’s vineyards in Valle de Uco, Mendoza.

The wine had been developed by winemaker Hervé Joyaux Fabre in a bid to demonstrate how well the two grape varieties blended together, said Buckingham Schenk.

“Bonarda is the second most planted red grape in Argentina and this wine was created to take advantage of the supple tannins of the Malbec to blend them with the very fresh and crunchy fruit character of the Bonarda,” it added.

The latest addition joins six other wines from Viñalba on Majestic’s shelves - a brand the retailer has listed since it first launched in the UK in 2007 as a joint venture between Buckingham Schenk and Mendoza-based Bodegas Fabre.

Malbec Bonarda will be one of the wines available to taste at La Casa del Vino Viñalba in October - Viñalba’s own pop-up shop which is being created as part of the brand’s 10tth anniversary celebrations.
