A dozen new wines join Tesco's Finest portfolio

Published:  28 June, 2017

Tesco has added 12 wines to its Finest own-label brand just a few months after extending the portfolio with a 10-strong collection of old-world wines.

Created in partnership with world renowned producers, the latest additions champion some of the best regions and grape varieties across Australia and New Zealand, while also introducing some classic styles from lesser known regions and grape varieties.

Rolling out into the retailer’s stores this week priced between £7 and £11, the launch represented the latest stage in Tesco’s strategy to offer “high quality" own-label wines”, said Tesco MW, James Davis. They offered customers affordable alternatives to traditional classics like Bordeaux, Rhone and Burgundy, he added.

“We’ve also introduced some well know wines like the Barossa Shiraz alongside the more unusual and innovative styled SR– a delicious blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling, which we hope will help start customers on a real journey of wine discovery,” he said.

The new wines comprise: Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2016, Coonawarra Cabernet 2014, McLaren Vale (Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre) 2015, New Zealand Hawks Bay Syrah 2016, Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2016, Barossa Shiraz 2016, McLaren Vale/Adelaide Hills (Sauvignon/Riesling) 2016, Saint Victoire Rose 2016, Monteforte Pinot Grigio 2016, Falanghina 2016, Greco di Tufo 2016, Aglianico 2015.

They grow the total number of wines in Tesco’s Finest collection to 109.
