The Rothschild Collection poised for LWF debut

Published:  13 March, 2017

Wines from each arm of the Rothschild winemaking family: Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite); Baron Philippe de Rothschild (Mouton); and Château Clarke (Baron Edmond de Rothschild); as well as Champagne Barons de Rothschild, will be showcased at the show in May by UK distributor Waddesdon Wine.

The Rothschild Collection is set to make its London Wine Fair debut this year.

The show's focus on the high end on-trade and independent retailers "very much" aligned with Rothschild's strategy for these "increasingly important" sectors, said Waddesdon Wine's national sales director Helen Miller, adding the Rothschild stables all offered an unparalleled assurance of quality across a number of price points.

Waddesdon Wine will open a bottle of the 2010 Château Lafite on the Tuesday, with the tasting of the £750 tipple by invitation only. In addition, Champagne Barons de Rothschild's Frédéric Mairesse, will run a tasting across the Champagne Barons de Rothschild range; from Brut NV through Blanc de Blancs, rosé to 2006 vintage (its first vintage release).

The stand will feature wines from across the portfolio, which incorporates domaines from: Languedoc; Bordeaux; Chile; Argentina; South Africa and New Zealand.

Highlights would include: Lafite Légende; a collection of wines which offer the Lafite Bordeaux experience at more accessible price points (£12 to £28); Los Vascos, DBR Lafite's Colchagua Valley-based winey; Bodegas Caro, the Mendoza based collaboration between DBR Lafite and the Catena family; and Rimapere, a joint venture between Craggy Range's Peabody family and Baron Edmond de Rothschild.
