North South Wines to hold inaugural tasting

Published:  02 February, 2017

After nearly three years of trading, UK distributor North South Wines (NSW), has announced it will be holding its first ever portfolio tasting in London and Leeds later this month.

Set up in 2014, NSW is part-owned by three wineries and provides agency distribution agreements for other winery partners in the UK.

The three shareholders are: Waimea Estates (NZ); TWP Wines (Italy); and De Bortoli (Australia).

They source wine internationally and operate on a direct supply, low cost model, with value as their USP.

The tasting will shine a spotlight on premium Australia, organic, craft gin trends as well as rich reds and appassimento styles.

There will also be a focus on the growing demand for low-alcohol trends, featuring the recently launched The Bees Knees 0% sparkling drink made using green tea to add tannin and body.

Now approaching the end of their third financial year NSW reports that it is about to hit one million cases.

"The last three years have been a whirlwind and we attribute our success to having real insight into the market and knowledge of our customers' businesses, the ability to predict trends and react quickly, and of course the strength of our portfolio. Our shareholders and producer partners have been hugely supportive and we are excited to showcase their exceptional ranges at our first ever portfolio tastings," said Joy Edmondson, brand development director.

Agency Partners include Luis Felipe Edwards, Chile, Villa Sandi and La Gioiosa, Italy (Prosecco and Sparkling), KWV, South Africa, United Wineries (Berberana and Marqués de Monistrol), Spain, and Cantina di Negrar, Italy - Valpolicella.

The inaugral North South Wines tasting will be held at Carousel Restaurant (the gallery), 71 Blandford St, Marylebone, London W1U 8AB on Thursday February 16, 10am to 5.30pm.
