Briccarello moves to Galvin

Galvin Restaurants has appointed sommelier of the year Andrea Briccarello in time for its new restaurant launch this autumn.

Briccarello has accepted the position as head sommelier and wine buyer of Galvin La Chapelle and Galvin Café de Luxe.

He will oversee the wine lists at Galvin Bistrot de Luxe, along with the soon to open fine dining restaurant Galvin La Chapelle and Galvin Café de Luxe in London's Spital Square.

"Galvin Restaurants has a great reputation for the affordability and quality of its wine lists that I look forward to building on," said Briccarello. "Particularly with our exciting relationship with Paul Jaboulet Aine that will soon be seen at Galvin La Chapelle and Galvin Café de Luxe."

Briccarello who was named 'Sommelier of the Year 2009' at Taste of London in June 2009, and was a finalist in the Jacquart Rising Star Competition in 2008, was previously group sommelier and wine buyer for Corrigan's Mayfair, Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill, and Lindsay House, and has also worked at the Michelin starred Umu and Connaught Hotel Grill room.

Chef patron, Chris Galvin said: "Andrea has years of experience working at the very highest levels of the restaurant industry, which will truly benefit our customers. He is extremely personable and we are all very much looking forward to working with him."
