Constellation's Emu

Published:  23 July, 2008

Constellation Europe is launching a new brand from South Australia on the UK market, Four Emus.

Named after the flightless birds native to Australia, Four Emus has an off-promotion price of 5.99. There are four single-varietal wines in the Four Emus range: a Shiraz, a Ros, an unoaked Chardonnay and a Cabernet Sauvignon, all bottled under screwcap.

According to a spokesman, Each Four Emu varietal is defined by a bright primary colour and a distinctive emu character: Shiraz - Eddie, Ros - Ella, unoaked Chardonnay - Elsie, and Cabernet Sauvignon - Ernie.' The back label introduces one of the Four Emu characters and features a wine finder tab' that the consumer can tear off and keep for easy identification the next time they go shopping.

Clare Griffiths, vice president of marketing, Constellation Europe, commented: Four Emus is all about combining fun and quality in a bottle. It's for consumers who want great-tasting wine, without fuss, from a region they recognise. Emus are often referred to as the "rock stars of the outback".'

Four Emus will be available to the trade from September.
