Safeway relaunches website

IN AN ATTEMPT to brighten the gloom enveloping the world of e-commerce, Safeway has launched in conjunction with The new online service will be part of the relaunch of the site and promises to offer consumers the "facility to shop for value-for-money, quality wines online from home or the office, putting the pleasure back into buying wine with the bonus of a delivery service". Browsers can select a wine in one of four ways: by country, by style, by price range or by occasion. These will be delivered within five days, according to Safeway, with evening deliveries in the London area. To promote the launch, the site has an exclusive offer of 12 classic wines including Cosme Palacio Rioja and Dourthe Numro Un white Bordeaux at 59.99 (a saving of 14.89). Simon Smith, Safeway category marketing manager, said: "Teaming up with a third party has meant that we have been able to combine Safeway's passion and knowledge of the wine market with a specialist in the Internet fulfilment industry."
