Domane Wachau appoints Alliance Wine

Published:  18 January, 2007

Domane Wachau has selected leading UK importer, Alliance Wine, as its new UK sole distributor.

Domane Wachau has recently undergone a revolution in terms of quality and presentation and this new distribution agreement seeks to build on the momentum created by the energetic new Wachau team of Roman Horvath and Heinz Frischengruber. Although the cooperative has 300 years of history, the new team has focussed on vineyard quality and grading of individual growers grapes in order to drive up overall quality.

This focus has already yielded great results, culminating in two trophies at this year's International Wine Challenge - Best Austrian White Wine & Best Grner Veltliner - for their Grner Veltliner Smaragd Achleiten.

Roman Horvath, Winery Manager of Wachau said: "We are very pleased to be able to appoint Alliance Wine for the UK market. At a time when we have a lot of potential to build upon, we are delighted to have found a company whose energy, passion and dynamism match our own"

Giles Cooke MW, Wine Development Director for Alliance was equally upbeat.

He said: "We have been really impressed by the wine quality and the professionalism that accompanies it. The wines are fabulous, express a "sense of place" like no other wine can and are becoming increasingly important to our restaurant and retail customers alike. We're going to have real fun selling them"
