The Benevolent would like to say a big thank you to those you took part in their Thanks for Giving auction.

The charity for the UK drinks industry launched its first ever online silent auction on November 24, (Thanksgiving Day) and has since raised the fantastic sum of £37,700 for colleagues in need.

The amount will enable The Benevolent to continue its valuable work helping colleagues of the drinks trade in need of practical, emotional or financial support in times of crisis, both personal and professional.

"This was an inaugural initiative for the charity and I am simply astonished by its success," David Cox, chief executive of The Benevolent, said.

"Not only have those companies and individuals who donated auction lots been incredibly generous but I have been overjoyed by the generosity of our participants, especially the fantastic kick-off donation from Farr Vintners.

"This epitomises the spirit of camaraderie and benevolence that we know exists in our wonderful trade and it endorses the willingness we all have to help those less fortunate".

The auction included over 80 auction lots, including VIP tickets to Royal Ascot, a four-ball round of golf with Oz Clarke and Tim Atkin MW, a behind-the-scenes tour of The Royal Academy and VIP access to the Graham Norton Show.

The Benevolent is the trade charity for people who are currently working, or have worked, in the UK drinks industry in any role and in any trade sector and is the only charity that supports employees, or former employees, from every area of the UK drinks industry providing practical, emotional and financial help.

The mission of the charity is to support colleagues facing a variety of difficult circumstances, including serious illness, disability, issues with stress or depression, with debt or any family crisis such as a seriously ill partner or child.
