The 10th edition of charity auction of high-end cognacs raised a record amount for Fondation Apprentis d'Auteuil, an organisation which has helped underprivileged young people and vulnerable families for 150 years.

The 10th edition of a charity auction of high-end cognacs raised a record amount for Fondation Apprentis d'Auteuil, an organisation which has helped underprivileged young people and vulnerable families for 150 years.

The Part des Anges, organised by the Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac (BNIC) in partnership with auction house ArtCurial, raised a record sum of 265,700 euros at last week's event held in Cognac, France.

Twenty-four decanters offered by top Cognac houses and an art piece were sold under the supervision of Laurie Matheson, Luc Dabadie and Marie Calzada - wine experts at Artcurial in front of 700 guests.

This year's patron was Michelin-starred chef, Guy Savoy.

Now in its 10th year, some changes were introduced to the format.

For the first time, a partnership with HelloAsso was developed to encourage the Cognac sector to donate online to three regional associations: Our Neighborhoods Have Talent (NQT) Poitou Charentes, the course the Odyssey and the Soroptimist Club of Cognac.

More than 9,000 euros in pledges have been raised since the opening of the donation campaign on July 15.

The donation portal will close on October 15, 2016 on lapartdesanges.cognac.fr

It has also become biennial, with the next edition due to take place in 2018.

The money raised from the sales will provide young students with a hospitality and catering school with a new kitchen.
