Gallo expands it fruit-flavoured wine range

Published:  13 July, 2016

Gallo family Vineyards has added a Peach & Nectarine flavoured wine to it Spirtz range, which is it fruit-flavoured wine range following the success of other wines in the category.

The company is trying to capitalise on new and younger wine drinkers and bring them into the wine category with the lighter and sweet alternative.

"The range appeals to a younger consumer who is looking for alcoholic drinks with a sweeter and fruitier taste profile, more than traditional wine styles. Spritz brings the next generation of wine consumers to the category by offering them a fruity option that suits their taste and their lifestyles," said Olga Senkina, marketing director of Europe, Middle East and Asia.

The base wines in the range are either white Grenache of Pinot Grigio which are then blend with he fruit flavours. The wine has an ABV of 5.5%, is carbonated and recommend to be served over ice.

The new flavour follows the success of the Raspberry & Lime and Pineapple & Passionfruit favours which helped to add an additional £4.5 million since the launch of the range in 2015 (Nieslen, MAT ending 21, May 2016).

Senkina said: "We have seen great success with our Spritz portfolio since launch, so it made sense to continue our investment in the offering and expand the range with a Peach & Nectarine variant."

A sampling campaign is set to run across England beginning this month through September aiming to get over 300,000 people to sample the product.  Samples will be distributed from the Spritz van visiting 35 towns across the country and looking to hit some of the most poplar outdoor space as well.
