Wine Society takes top merchant award as IWC winners celebrate
At last night's 33rd annual International Wine Challenge dinner held at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London, The Wine Society was the bigger winner of the evening taking home IWC's Wine Merchant of the year award.
At last night's 33rd annual International Wine Challenge dinner held at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London, The Wine Society was the bigger winner of the evening taking home IWC's Wine Merchant of the Year Award.
The awards are in recognition of the dedication, commitment, and handwork of the UK's tope wine traders and suppliers.
"These fine wine traders and suppliers are the bedrock of the UK's wine industry. These are the companies who sell good wines, know how to sell them, and help wine-lovers to find their old favourites or discover new ones. Their passion and expertise is powering our thriving wine industry and we are proud to recognise their hard work," said co-chairman of the IWC, Charles Metcalfe.
Hatch Mansfield was awarded IWC Large Agent of the Year for another consecutive year. Daniel Lambert Wines received the IWC Small Agent of the Year.
Majestic Wine took home the IWC's High Street Chain of the Year 2016 in recognition of the hard work and success in implementing a three year turnaround plan.
Morrisons was awarded the IWC Supermarket of the year award, two years on the trot.
London-based Vagabond Wines won Large Independent Merchant of the Year. First-time winner Jascots Wine Merchants took home the gong for IWC On-Trade Supplier of the Year. IWC Small Independent Merchant of the Year was awarded to D. Byrne & Co.
The CO-OP was crowned Convenience Store Chain of the Year, while Hallgarten Druitt & Novum Wines won IWC Wine List of the Year.
