Published:  28 June, 2016

Pernod Ricard UK managing director, Denis O'Flynn, has announced he will be leaving the group at the end of September.

O'Flynn has been the managing director of Pernod Ricard UK since October 2011.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed the last five years at Pernod Ricard UK.  Working with a great team, I am proud of our continued progress in both the on and off trade and our increased market share as well as the consolidation of our company strategy 'Shaping the Nation's Drinking Experiences'," said O'Flynn in a statement.

He has been with the company since 1998 when he joined as the human resource director of the product division, for Irish Distillers. In July 1999 he was appointed as the HR director or the Irish Distillers Group. In March 2010 he became the commercial director of Ireland and then in July 2011 he was appointed the managing director, Ireland.

During his tenure, O'Flynn has helped to clearly define objectives for the company and helped to create the mission statement and concept around 'shaping the nation's drinking experience'.  In the company's most recent half yearly results which were released in March 2016, overall market share increased 11.7% (MAT).

Laurent Pillet, currently CEO of Pernod Ricard, Sub-Saharan Africa, will replace O'Flynn as PR UK managing director.

O'Flynn has also served as the chairman of the Wine and Spirits Trade Association since September 2014. He said: "I am also honoured to have been the Chairman of the WSTA and to get to know so many people through the last few important years for the UK drinks industry."

O'Flynn plans on returning to Dublin to spend more time with his family.

He said: "My decision to leave is the right one for me and my family and I am delighted to be returning to Dublin to be with them. I leave a great team at Pernod Ricard UK who will take the business to the next level."
