Glenturret steps into limelight with new single malt range

Published:  10 November, 2015

The Crieff-based Glenturret Distillery has launched a new range of single malts to mark the 240th anniversary of distilling on its site.

There are currently three whiskies in the range: a Sherry, a Triple Wood and a Peated malt.

Stuart Cassells, Glenturret general manager, said: "The Glenturret single malt is a hidden gem in the whisky world, a genuinely handmade malt crafted with passion and care. Our new core range draws on the very best of our traditional, artisan production methods but focusses on profiling the taste of the malt, not simply its age.

"A traditional Scottish product, The Glenturret only require five pairs of hands to produce it and these exceptional malts are a testimony to the range of traditional distilling skills that Glenturret has worked hard to preserve."

Glenturret is best known as a core ingredient in The Famous Grouse.

Scotland's most popular whisky-related tourist attraction, The Famous Grouse Experience, is located at the distillery.

Glenturrret is Scotland's only remaining producer of hand mashed whisky.

The new range is available online, from the distillery shop and in a number of retail outlets. Each retails at £45.

The new releases are the latest in a series from the distiller. Recent successes include the 1986 Commonwealth Games Edition (RRP £150) and Brock Malloy Edition, which was an ultra-limited edition release of 240 bottles which retailed at £260.

Cassells was the founder and frontman of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers until 2011.
