November will see the first Indian Wine Fair to be launched in London.

Held over three days at the Millennium Conference Centre, the event will be open to industry professionals from both the on- and the off-trade, as well as media representatives and members of the public.

The aim is to introduce the breadth, depth and diversity of the Indian wine industry to an international audience.

Over 1,000 visitors are expected to attend the fair, which runs from November 6 to 8.

Visitors can expect to enjoy presentations from leading Indian wine companies, such as Sula Vineyards, Grover Zampa, Fratelli Wines, Charosa Vineyards, and York Wines.

The fair will also feature masterclasses with Peter Csizmadia-Honigh, author of The Wines of India, a Concise Guide, as well as tastings and workshops with the likes of Stephen Spurrier, Joe Wadsack and Jane Parkinson, among others.

The trade fair has been developed by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (Apeda), which is part of India's ministry of commerce and industry.

Apeda will also be hosting a tasting dinner for wine enthusiasts as part of the event.

Sunil Kumar, general manager of APEDA, said: "Indian wineries have tremendous potential to win over the international market. In fact, many Indian wines feature on the wine lists of some of London's best restaurants.

"This is the first time we are showcasing Indian wines on a large international platform, but we plan to make this an annual event which wine connoisseurs as well as leading wineries look forward to each year."

Peter Csizmadia-Honigh said: "India is the most exciting emerging wine country in Asia. I am delighted to lead a number of master classes on Indian wines for members."
