Angostura French Oak expression is the second in Cask Collection rum range

Published:  25 September, 2015

A limited edition rum with an £89.99 UK rrp is being launched by Trinidad & Tobago rum producer Angostura.

Angostura Rum No 1 Once Used French Oak will arrive in December and pre-orders are being by supplier Cellar Trends.

The rum is the second release in Angostura's Cask Collection range.

Master distiller John Georges, will undertake an autumn bar staff training tour of Manchester, Leeds, London and Glasgow - and attend other trade events - to herald the launch.

Out of the total distillation of 15,030 bottles, 1,800 bottles will be reserved for release in the UK.

The rum is a 16-year-old blend, aged for a minimum of 10 years in American oak, then blended and recasked for six years in French oak casks that were once used for ageing Cognac.

Craig Chapman, marketing manager for Angostura at Cellar Trends, said: "The UK trade and spirits connoisseurs have an increasing appetite for artisan rums.

"The first rum in the Cask Collection in 2013 sold out fast, so we think this new Angostura Rum No 1 Once Used French Oak will be keenly sought after."
