Gallo gives Dark Horse a helping hand with supermarket sampling campaign

Published:  22 September, 2015

Gallo is taking its Dark Horse premium Californian wines on a tour of the UK in a bid to persuade Tesco and Sainsbury's shoppers to buy the wines.

The brand hopes to reach 40,000 consumers through a sampling unit in the supermarkets' car parks around the UK between now and October 17.

It's the first major marketing push for the brand which Gallo launched in February 2014.

The wines will be accompanied by canapés specially created as matches by food and wine educator Matt Day.

A Posh Sushi of prawns, lemon, pineapple, sweetcorn and crème fraiche will pair with the Chardonnay

The Cabernet Sauvignon is being matched with a Beef Taco containing cheddar cheese, blackcurrant jam, milk chocolate and black pepper.

Olga Senkina, marketing director for EMEA at Gallo, said: "By taking Dark Horse wines on the road and encouraging trial we will be giving consumers the opportunity to be surprised and delighted by these truly exceptional wines."

Dark Horse has an rrp of £8.99.
