Exton Park delivers first vintage English sparkling wines

Published:  22 September, 2015

Hampshire vineyard Exton Park has released its first vintage wines.

Only 2,500 bottles of the sparkling Blanc de Blancs 2011 were produced. The 100% Chardonnay fizz will have an rrp of £39.95.

There is also a Pinot Meunier-led Rosé Vintage available on allocation from a production run of just 700 bottles.

Exton Park's previous three releases have all been non-vintage wines to try to establish a consistent style for the vineyard.

The intention is only to release vintages from exceptional harvests.

Winemaker Corinne Seely paid tribute to owner Malcolm Isaac for investing in her vision for a winery with the specifications to handle vinification and storage of small production runs.

'It was a big challenge for me, but an even bigger financial gamble for Malcolm," she said. "I am so honoured that he had faith in what we were creating'.

She added: "With the huge variety of terroirs, there is so much to explore and develop on this single site - without having to bring in any outside grapes. The Blanc de Blanc Vintage 2011 is a perfect illustration - and there are more vintages and varietals waiting in the wings."
