Veeno wine café concept sets sights on 80 venues with rapid expansion programme

Published:  21 September, 2015

Italian wine café chain Veeno is aiming to open 80 sites across the UK by 2019.

The company, founded by Nino Caruso and Andrea Zecchino in Manchester two years ago, opens its fifth venue, in Nottingham, next month.

Leeds, York and Liverpool have been added since and Bristol, Birmingham and Edinburgh are on hit list for next year when it aims to bring the total up to 10.

The pair hope to achieve the rapid expansion thereafter through equity investment and bank loans.

The Veeno concept pairs wines from Caruso's family vineyard in Sicily with Italian meats and cheeses.

Zecchino said: "We have worked hard in the past months to create an organisation that can support the growth into the future.

"This means working on systems, processes and procedures that will be crucial to manage and drive the expansion.

"We want to replicate our successful concept without compromising on the quality of our products and services and without losing efficiency."

Caruso added: "It's amazing how local communities welcome us everywhere we open, I'm honoured to bring a little piece of our Italian home to the UK and can't wait to share that with the rest of the country."
