Chilgrove adds vodka made from grape spirit to product range

Published:  03 September, 2015

English gin producer Chilgrove Spirits is adding a vodka made from grape spirit to the gin it launched last year.

The Sussex-based operation is initially releasing 3,500 bottles of Chilgrove vodka which will be on sale from October with an rrp of between £29 and £35.

Chilgrove gin was launched by husband and wife team Christopher and Celia Beaumont-Hutchings in June 2104 and has gone on to win listings with retailers including Harrods, The Whisky Shop, Master of Malt, Hedonism Wines and Fortnum & Mason. It will shortly add Wine Rack to its roster.

Using grapes in the distillation is claimed by Chilgrove to produce a smoother base spirit rather than giving it the flavour of grapes.

The vodka is lower in strength than the gin at 40% abv.

Christopher Beaumont-Hutchings said: "The success of our first product has led to the early launch of our second gloriously English spirit.

"Trade experts and discerning consumers have been fascinated by its production using grape distilled alcohol and appreciate how this improves the resulting spirit."
