Cape Wine launches video campaign to help delegates prepare for their visit

Published:  12 August, 2015

Video interviews with South African winemakers, viticulturalists and other wine personalities are being used to prepare visitors to Cape Wine 2015 for their trip.

The interviews are being disseminated through a social media campaign using the hashtag #CapeWineConnect between now and the show, which runs at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from September 15-17.

The videos are designed to inform visitors about South African wine in a light-hearted and welcoming manner and include topics as diverse as farming methods, social upliftment, winemakers' lightbulb moments and the odd winery dog.

Producers are being encouraged to ramp up their own social media presence in the coming weeks using the same hashtag, to raise awareness of their own stories and successes.

Siobhan Thompson, Wines of South Africa's chief executive officer, said: "Our show is a multimedia look at the South African wine industry and the campaign allows visitors to start learning more about our wines before they step on to a plane.

"Over the three days of Cape Wine, delegates will be able to make sense of the progress South Africa has made over the past two decades.

"We are now an accomplished performer with an authentically-original voice, keen to protect our vinous heritage, but equally excited to explore new wine-growing areas, varietals and styles."

Registration for the exhibition is at capewine2015.com.
