Final call for bartenders to enter Diageo Reserve World Class 2015 competition in the UK

Diageo is searching nationwide for the best British bartender to represent the UK in Diageo's Reserve World Class 2015 bartending competition in South Africa later this year.

Although the first tranche of the competition - Burst One - has already closed and five semi-finalists have been selected to go through to the finals, Burst Two is still open for entries. This second tranche will see judges visit all entrants at work to observe their skills, with 50 of the best bartenders selected to attend a master-class in April. This will narrow the finalists down to five winners. The five winners from Burst One and Two will then compete for the title of UK World Class Bartender of the Year, which is being held in Scotland in the summer. 

The UK winner will then have a shot at winning the global title at the Diageo Reserve World Class 2015 bartending competition in South Africa. The global winner will go on to travel the world educating bartenders across the globe, become a World Class judge and mentor and have the opportunity to create their own cocktail book. The bar that the winner hails from will also receive a one-off £10,000 marketing fund to create their own World Class cocktail.

"World Class is a world-leading competition and the career benefits that come to the bartenders taking part is second to none. We're hopeful that this year we'll have what it takes for a UK entrant to take the top spot as global World Class Bartender of the Year 2015. Don't miss your chance to enter," the head of Diageo Reserve GB Nick Temperley said.

To be in with a chance to win, entrants must submit a recipe for a signature cocktail that uses only white spirits from Diageo's Reserve portfolio. It has to be inspired by a bartending book, and linked to a piece of literature through a character or a theme, and it must be the 'ultimate outdoor drink'.

All recipes for entries must be submitted online by 29 March, 2015.
