HARPERS CHANGES HANDS

Published:  23 July, 2008

Highbury House Communications sold Harpers, The Wine & Spirit Weekly, along with its entire business division, to the American-based group Ergo earlier this month. The sale includes 40 other titles and events in addition to Harpers. Steve Hardiman, director of the Food, Drink and Retail Division (which includes Harpers, the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC), Checkout, Independent Retail News and The Grower) said that he was very positive about the sale. Ergo has confirmed its wish to work in partnership with the existing management team. We are confident that, once the deal is completed, our ability to deliver high-quality products and excellent service will be stronger as a result.' Hardiman added: As far as Harpers and the IWSC is concerned, it's very much business as usual.' Following the sale, Highbury House Communications itself was sold to consumer publishing firm Future.
