The World Cup final is only two days to go and who better to get you in the mood than wine critic, broadcaster and more importantly Tottenham Hotspur fan (we think!), Tim Atkin MW. Here are his World Cup memories:

Favourite World Cup and why?

1970. The Brazil team were a bit special

Best overall World Cup game and why?

Probably England vs Argentina in 1998, even though we lost. Great goals, tension, drama and....David Batty.

Tim Cahill Tim Cahill wonder goalTim Atkin chooses his namesake, Tim Cahill's wonder striker against Holland at Brazil 2014 as his favourite World Cup goal.

Greatest World Cup goal?

Tim Cahill's goal in the group stages this time round, or that Marco van Basten volley (that was in the European Championships, chief, but still a great goal).

Favourite all time player in the World Cup and why?

Maradona. A cheat, but what a player. Balance, touch, skill

BobbyMoore and the World CupBobbyMoore and the World Cup

Tim Atkin chooses his namesake, Tim Cahill's wonder striker against Holland at Brazil 2014 as his favourite World Cup goal.

Earliest World Cup memory?

The 1966 final. I was five.

Best all time English World Cup player?

Bobby Moore. Or Gordon Banks.

Worst all time English World Cup player?

Toss up between David Batty and Phil Jagielka.

Ideal wine or spirit/cocktail to drink whilst watching World Cup Final?

It's got to be a Caipirinha

Any personal funny World Cup related story you would like to share?

I was away on a scout camp when England played West Germany. I came back and we were two up. We eventually lost 3-2 and my family always blamed me. Half jokingly, of course.
