David Beckham's Haig Club whisky goes on sale in Selfridges

Published:  14 July, 2014

David Beckham's exclusive new whisky, Haig Club, that he has developed with Diageo, is now exclusively on sale at Selfridges in London until the end of July before being rolled out to wider distribution.

The specially developed whisky brand is being sold in the UK first and will cost £45 for a 70cl bottle.

Following Selfridge's exclusive retail partnership it will go on sale in the Whisky Shop and other selected specialist stores.

Simon Fuller, the British music entrepreneur behind bands such as the Spice Girls and the creator of the Pop Idol television format, is also part of the brand's illustrious creative team.

Both Beckham and Fuller have worked with Diageo's spirits team to help create the whisky produced at the House of Haig, makers of Haig blended Scotch whisky and Dimple Scotch Whisky, that has over 400 years of whisky making history.

Not only will Beckham be involved in personally promoting the brand as it gains distribution through the year he will also be help push Diageo's corporate responsible drinking message.

At the time of the launch Beckham said: "The House of Haig has a rich history and I'm proud to be working at the heart of a home-grown brand which has built an incredible heritage over 400 years. Working closely with Diageo, we look forward to collaborating on Haig Club, valuing and treasuring the Haig traditions while reinventing this whisky for years to come."

Fuller added: "This is a long term commitment. It is important to us that we create something unique and of great quality. With Haig Club we have an opportunity to push boundaries and help shape how Scotch will be perceived in the future, it's an exciting proposition."

The actual Haig Club combines grain whisky from three cask types to create a fresh, clean style with notes of butterscotch and toffee for what it claims is an ultra-smooth taste.
