PLB has today introduced to the trade its new venture, the Thimbleberry Gift Co, from which it will look to distribute a new range of 'Just To Say' personalised gift wines.

It hopes to build on the rise of social media and the use of trends such as the "selfie" to encourage consumers, particularly younger drinker, to send personalised bottles of wine to celebrate special occasions and events.Anyone buying a "Just To Say" wine can include a personal photo, draw a doodle or create their own wine label image. A front label design complete with peel back frame allows consumers to create their own labels.

Images and designs can be uploaded via a dedicted website or they can choose from pre-designed templates. The wines will initially offer a choice of red and white but hopes to include a sparkling wine too and are available at around £8.99.

James Burston, business development director for PLB said: 'We have had fantastic feedback so far on the wines and now can't wait to see them on shelf where they will really stand out. As well as the packaging, the quality of the wine had to be a step above to ensure there was a strong overall upmarket feel to the products and to ensure repeat purchase.'

It is hoped the wines will be showcased in gifting aisles as well as wine fixtures. They will be in store from September.
