Jancisrobinson.comJancis Robinson MWJancis Robinson MW, the esteemed British wine critic, is set to be the keynote speaker at 2014’s Digital Wine Communicators Conference, to be held in Montreux, Switzerland, later this year.

Robinson will speak about Wine in Context - this year's conference theme, as well as leading a tutred tasting of Swiss wines with Wine Grapes co-author Dr José Vouillamoz.

Delegates will also have the chance to taste wines from 40 of Switzerland's best producers, as well as attend masterclasses on the country's ancient varieties and iconic Swiss wines, led respectively by Dr. José Vouillamoz and Paolo Basso, Best Sommelier of the World 2013.

Other confirmed speakers at this year's DWCC, which takes place in Montreux from October 31 to November 2, 2014, include:

DWCC co-founder Gabriella Opaz said: "Switzerland is a multitude of regions, grapes and wines, and we're thrilled to be heading there to discuss and debate excellence in online wine communications. Sandwiched between France, Italy, Germany and Austria, Switzerland has 26 cantons, 4 linguistic areas, a plethora of cultural influences, 6 wine-producing areas and some 40 indigenous grapes: it's a real melting pot."

The conference, in conjunction with Wine In Moderation, will host a panel debate on the subject of wine culture in context, encouraging delegates to reflect upon the potential of digital media to create entirely new ways to talk about and sell wine.

DWCC 2014 will offer a range of communications and technical workshops on the skills and information needed by wine communicators in the 21st century, led by international experts.

This year's event is sponsored by Swiss Wine Promotion, the generic body responsible for promoting Switzerland's national wine production. The reduced-rate delegate fee for bloggers and alumni is €250; the full-rate fee is €450.

The conference is organised by Ryan and Gabriella Opaz and Robert McIntosh of social media company Vrazon.
