'GET INVOLVED' WITH BULGARIA

Published:  23 July, 2008

Get Involved is the name of the winning entry in Boyar Estates' competition to find a new logo and motto, which will be used in promotional activities centred around Bulgaria's tourist industry. The competition, which was carried in all the daily Bulgarian national newspapers, attracted more than 500 entries. Antonia Ivanova, a 19-year-old student from Sofia, Bulgaria's capital, devised the winning motto, and two Bulgarian friends, 28-year-old Dimitar Gavanski and 29-year-old Assen Petrov, created the logo. The emblem is based on a smiling face created out of the u' in Bulgaria'. The original idea came from Boyar Estates' chief executive, Margo Todorov, who spent 15 years pressing eight different Bulgarian governments to hold such a competition. It was Bulgaria's current prime minister, King Simeon, who approved the idea and who helped spearhead the campaign. Todorov said: The National Chamber of Vine and Wine has now adopted the winning logo as the symbol for its national wine fund.'
