Stevens Garnier to distribute Finca Flichman through Molson Coors

Published:  01 May, 2014

Stevens Garnier has appointed Molson Coors to distribute its Argentinian brand Finca Flichman in the on-trade.

Stevens Garnier, the UK subsidiary of family-owned Sogrape Vinhos of Portugal, will work with Molson Coors, which already has a 150-strong wine portfolio, to access the on-trade.

Founded in 1873, Finca Flichman, based in Mendoza, was bought by Sogrape Vinhos in 1998. Sogrape's owners, the Guedes family, put in place a plan to develop, restore and expand Finca Flichman's winery with the latest winemaking technology.

Gary Keller, senior buying manager at Molson Coors Wholesale said: "We're delighted Stevens Garnier has chosen to work with Molson Coors on this important Argentine collection. The Finca Flichman brand is an excellent addition to our existing range of over 150 exclusive wines. As both Molson Coors and Stevens Garnier continue to make major inroads into supplying wine to the UK on-trade, these high quality wines will enhance our range which is designed to delight drinkers on all occasions."

Last month Stevens Garnier said it was on the look-out for major old world brands, and plans to boost its portfolio by adding one every six months. It recenly announced it would distribute top chateau Mouton Cadet in the UK.

Managing director Matt Douglas told harpers.co.uk: "We are looking at working with brands from Italy, Spain and France. We are looking for brands that really support each other."

It has also recently listed a number of wines from Brazil, which has proved timely given this summer's football World Cup.

Earlier this year the firm sold its retail and wholesale business to Oxford's SH Jones, with Douglas telling harpers.co.uk that being a branded winery, importer, agent and distributor was enough and that it "didn't want to be a wholesaler too".
